Environmental Science: Large River Ecosystems (PhD)

Overview

The Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission have granted approval to º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ to establish a Ph.D. program in environmental science. The new degree program, which focuses on large river ecosystem, will be available at the º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ-Quad Cities Campus.

Our Faculty

A multidisciplinary committee of º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ faculty members developed the proposal for the new program. They are affiliated with geography, biological sciences, mathematics and the º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office. The committee was assisted by a number of organization representatives, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and River Action.

Other Information

Students must complete at least 60 semester hours beyond the master's degree in the following areas:

Core Courses: 11 s.h.

ENVR 730 Environmental Systems (4 s.h.)
ENVR 740 Advanced Analytic Tools in Environmental Science (4 s.h.)
ENVR 750 Integrated Environmental Decision Making (3 s.h.)

Electives: at least 9 s.h.

The selection of elective courses will be made by the student in consultation with his/her major adviser.Ìý Elective courses must be taken at the 500, 600 or 700 levels.

Dissertation/Research: 40 s.h.

ENVR 798 Dissertation Research (0-10 s.h., repeatable)
