Student Employment

uTech hires a limited number of students each year to staff the computer labs, support center, and provide some other types of support. Preference is given to qualified students who are willing to cover early morning, late night, and weekend hours. Before deciding to apply, please read:

If you feel qualified and prepared to seek employment with us, gather the following required documentation before filling out the online student application form:

  • class schedule
  • list of relevant courses taken
  • three faculty/staff/previous employer contacts 

We appreciate your patience while your application goes through a review process. If your qualifications and availability meet departmental needs, you MAY be contacted for an interview when positions become available.

Eligibility & Requirements

All student workers are expected to work between 5 and 20 hours per week in the University Technology locations on campus. Students entering their final º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ semester are not eligible and will not be considered.

Appearance: A neat, professional appearance is required.

Communication Skills: Good command of verbal and written English are required. Student workers must have a strong desire to work with the public and be able to explain what they have learned to others.

º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ Technology Environment: The ability to learn computing applications independently is required. Applicants must already be familiar with:

    • Windows and Macintosh computers and programs
    • Web Browsers
    • Google Apps for Education (G Suite)
    • Microsoft Office software
    • STARS

uTech Lab Positions

Lab Assistant

These students are responsible for staffing campus computer labs and assisting students with various software and printing questions. They should know how to assists students with computer related questions and have extensive knowledge of Windows and Macintosh software, as well as hardware available in the º£½ÇÆƽâ°æ computer labs. Printer support is also required.

uTech Technical Support Positions

HelpDesk/Support Center Assistant

The Support Center provides walk-in and phone-based technical support to faculty, staff and students with computing questions and hardware/software problems.

Technical Assistant

Technical services support provides a wide range of opportunities to work with computer hardware and software, including repair and maintenance.
